Coming out of the battle station, came out squadron after squadron of R-Wing starfighters. In total, there was twelve squadrons, twelve starfighters in each, making up three wings. They formed into their wings and headed out just within the planet's gravity well. There they awaited their opponents.

Out of the Galactic-class Carriers of the 6th fleet came the 12 squadrons of the Black Moon Special Forces. In total, 12 squadrons of 12 fighters of TIE Defenders. Dan personally was leading his forces on this one.
"This is Eagle One to all Black Moon Squads. Check in."
"Renegade 2 flight green." "3 green." "4 green." "Corruptors 1 flight green." "2 green." "3 green." "4 green." "Dark Blasters 1 flight green." "2 green." "3 green." "4 green."
"Rengade 1 flight green." said Dan. "Ok then. Lets show these chumps what some real flyboys can do!" he said, and pulled his starfighter into a corkscrew manuver towards the R-Wings.
"Coalition fighters, this is Eagle One of Black Moon. Ready to wipe the floor with you whenever you are." he said with a laugh.

The R-Wings barrel-rolled towards the TIE Defenders. The R-Wings were originally based on an A-Wing frame, but given X-Wing style wings, smoothed down and hence you had the R-Wing. It was about the same speed as the current model XJ9's, the R-Wing new prototypes could go faster. Turning was a little bit more improved than the X-Wing, but still, the TIE Defender was faster and more agile. The R-Wing however had added strength, much like an X-Wing, so it would provide an interesting battle.
The R-Wings were from the 1st Royal Support Group, not the best the Coalition had, but still very experienced with their starfighters. They ended their roll and side-cruised into battle, skimming the edge of the Black Moon starfighters, shooting lasers before quickly turning left so they didn't venture out too far. With the turn, they hoped to come in behind the Black Moon ready to fire missiles at their exhaust pipes which would be the easiest to track.

"Here they come!" said Dan. "Turn to squadron frequencys... now." he said, as he flipped the switch to switch to his squadrons frequency. "Eagle one to Renegade flight, break by pairs, you know what to do. 2, with me." he said as he rolled his ship and went to get on the tail of the nearest R-wing.
"One, pull up!" he heard. Automatically, he pulled back on the stick and saw a paint missile flash by below him, followed by an R-Wing being pursued by his wingman. When the R-Wing was officially "Dead," 2 formed up again with Dan. "Thanks 2." he said. "No problem sir." The pair turned to rejoin the fray.

Gripping hard on the throttle, her R-Wing slowed down, allowing a TIE Defender to fly past her, a missile perfectly finding it mark. With the explosion still vibrant, she spun to her right and pushed throttle back to full, finding her wingman being chased by two TIE Defenders. She flew down and hit the one furthest back with laserfire, then approaching at full speed to catch up with the final one. In her mind, she sensed something, and quickly spun her starfighter upwards and to the left in a roll. The missile flew straight where she had been and hit the TIE Defender's wing, sending it off course and 'downing' it. Approaching the wingman, she gave him the thumbs up and turned left while he turned right, back to the battle.
In this starfighter, a prototype advanced model of the R-Wing, was Empress Jalua. She had gone into the battle leading the three wings, unknown to Dan Zorko, who she had sensed through his sheer determination. It wasn't long before she noticed his starfighter, shooting down a R-Wing from her own squadron. Diving in, she followed the TIE Defender until finally, she had a target lock. She fired two missiles at first, one behind the other, hoping the second would hit the target if he did dodge the first.

Dan gritted his teeth as the missile warning started to buzz in his ear. "Son of a..." he muttered when he saw it was actually 2 missiles. "Break!" he yelled to his wingman, who pulled off, but the missiles kept going after him. Whoever this pilot was was gunning for him. He hit the throttle, being pushed back in his seat as the the ship sped up. As one of the missiles closed in, he pulled into a tight corkscrew and went "down." One of the missiles overshot and exploded after realizing it had no more target, but the other kept coming. As Dan approached an advancing R-wing, he fired a missile knocking it out, then activated his tractor beam. Using the R-wing as a center point, he pulled an extremely tight turn and sped off, while the missile plowed into the "dead" R-wing.
"Ok." he said. "Wheres that R-Wing that fired at me?" "Off to your left and up." said his wingman. "Want me to get it?" "No, that guy is mine." said Dan, and pulled the TIE Defender to the left, and charged the R-Wing, firing in bursts with his lasers.

Jalua first felt the approaching bolts and went into a spiral dive, before then rapidly turning upwards again, to trick her opponent. By rising, she gave herself time to manoeuvre out of sight and turned to her right, ready to curve down and hit her opponent as he began to rise again. It didn't quite work, what in fact happened is that she once again headed straight for Dan, but this time he was coming at her. Pulling to her left slightly, she let him go past with a little wave before turning around and attempting to follow. Keeping an eye on her rear for possible hostiles, she began to power up her engines to gain some speed and distance from the battle before coming back in to fight. In fact, there was an entire squadron still dedicated to this tactic, what they were doing is using the other two squadrons to tie (no pun intended) down the enemy and they would simply keep using lightning fast strikes to strike through the dogfight, taking down who they could in this simple slashing technique. Following in with three other starfighters, she joined them in their run, but her plan was different. She followed closely behind them and once she found Dan on her scanners, she simply rolled out of the formation to the left and came screaming down at him, lasers firing and a missile going. It was pure carnage from above.

"UP!" he heard on his comm from his wingman. Dan pulled up to miss the brunt of the lasers, and rolled around the missile. Looking at his computer, it said he was at 78.3% still, so he leveled out and activated his comm. "Eagle one to all Black Moon fighters, this isn't working. Form up and hit them with a double blow."
With that, he manuvered his ship into one of the two V-formations forming. One wasto deal the first blow, the other to hit any survivors, and then the two would break and mop up whatever was left.

Jalua sped past and continued onwards, finally curving back around to see what was happening. "Omega-One to all wings. Intercept Black Moon formation and cause havoc" she said into her comm, moving her hand from her throat back down to her throttle. She was used to have one hand on the steering and one on the throttle to immediately counter threats since she knew pilots had a tendency to make you aware of incoming fire very late. Heading back into the fray,, she could see R-Wings buzzing in and out of the Black Moon formation, attempting to keep them separated and distracted. Jalua came up behind the formation and began shooting her lasers at one of the starfighters, but luckily for him she missed and he had chance to get out of the way. What she did however, was pull into the gap she made. Finding herself in the middle of the Black Moon V-Formation, she made them stick. Too hard a turn and they would slam into her, and while this was happening the other R-Wings was diving in and out, making sure they couldn't bring their weapons to bare.

Dan noticed what was happening, and activated his comm. "All BM fighters. Brakes on my mark... Mark!" With tha, he activated all the brakes he had, causing his starfighter to slow down drastically. The R-Wings shot ahead, and the BM fighters broke formation and started firing at their exhaust. "Wohoo! Now this is flying!" he hollered as he flet loose a missile at a R-wing.

A couple of R-Wings easily got taken out by the missiles, again, three more got hit by the laser fire a short while later. The rest broke out randomly, realising that they were no longer surrounding the Black Moon pilots. With a flurry of missiles chasing the Empress, she continued her upwards dive, looping sharply at the top and heading full power back down towards the TIE Defenders which were powering up their engines again. She turned her craft and it barely made it between two starfighters, with the missile following it lost target and killed it's own thruster. Jalua did however, circle back up the underside and while it was slowing down, she fired her lasers into the missile, watching it explode and the paint soak the surrounding starfighters. Pleased with her two kills, she sped onwards until she heard a voice over the intercomm. "This is MCAV-One to Omega-One-Two, please come in" the desperate sounding voice pleaded. "This is Omega-One-Two, what is the problem?" Jalua asked, wondering why the MCAV would be so close to speak to her starfighter independently. "Maam, we have being following a group of starfighters and freighters and they are now speeding towards your position" the voice stated, sounding a bit more relieved now. Jalua, wondering what all the fuss was about, was about to say to the operator that it wouldn't be a problem, that the group was most likely heading for the planet or one of it's surrounding stations. That is when her astromech bleeped into a frenzy of warnings, instruments began to light up and she noticed pilots disembarking from their simulated dogfight. "This is Omega-One-Three, we have approaching vessels, coming in fast. Two, no wait, three positively identified. They are the Black Guard" her wingman informed, his own voice a bit tired and also alert she noticed. "Understood, inform our friends. I will lead us into intercept formation" she said and automatically turned her starfighter around. A couple of missiles hit her starfighter but with shields raised to full power, they simply exploded upon contact. A short while afterwards, some of the TIE Defenders must have noticed similar results and had begun following the R-Wings. Even "downed" R-Wings were coming back to life. "This is Jalua, nice battle but we've got incoming. Black Guard starfighters are approaching fast, we are intercepting. We've only got lasers, no live missiles" she said through her comm, briefly flicking between channels to speak to Dan privately, knowing he would relay the intel through his own squadrons.

Dan didn't like the sound of that. "Jalua, I don't think you should intercept." He opened a seperate line with his forces. "Eagle one to all BM forces. End the excercise, we have a real threat. Black Guard forces. Battle stations. Starfighters, form up and get ready to battle. Lasers back on full."

Jalua was mystified, wondering why he'd say such a thing. "Dan, we can hold them until reinforcements arrive and make sure we get some decent intelligence. This is exactly what we need!" she said with excitement, she was no longer afraid now, although she could sense similar images of the Star Destroyer being hit in the mind's of the pilots in formation with her.

"Jalua listen. They just randomly show up in force during a mock dogfight when you're piloting and vulnerable? Its a bit suspicious. I know they aren't here for me. They're here for you. Get back to the MCAV, I've got it covered." said Dan.

Jalua thought about it, he was right, she was probably the most valuable target they could find after the failed kidnapping of John. It also made sense that they would try to get at her after it was her forces who managed to break him free. One thing however that she couldn't understand was that the Black Guard was under orders to attack her, that was one thing she wouldn't have given permission to. "I'll kill Nubai when i get my hands on him" she muttered, although without realising her voice could be heard on the other end of the comm line. By the time she had attempted to loop around, she left her engines easily visible to the Black Guard starfighters and the rest of her R-Wing squadrons had gone past the Templer-class Starfighters and were attempting to circle around, a proceed which would take time now that the Templar's knew who their target was. Jalua saw green laserfire surrounding her starfighter, then some red added in for extra vibrancy it seemed. Attempting to dodge, she found the process useless, but opening up to the force, she suddenly lost conciousness. Although this would usually be bad, the force was fueling her actions and on impulse her starfighter was dodging perfectly. Coming in and out of spirals, twists, turns, rolls, dives and curves, her piloting was flawless. What she couldn't expect however, was the modified freighter coming in behind her. With a specially fitted turret on top, it activated it's miniture tractor beam and her starfighter came to an earth shattering halt. Looking around her, startled at seeing again, she attempted to power up her engines but this led simply in them cutting out. Being dragged backwards, she found that the Templar starfighters were beginning to carefully shoot her wings, tail and engines, even the front of her starfighter got hit. Jalua wasn't helpless just yet however, she was already pulling on a vac-suit, which would protect her from the coldness of space and give her a couple of hours of breathable air. With her Jedi Training however, she could potentially make that air last her days, although she would first need to dodge the laserfire. The R-Wings had finally made it, and was beginning to battle the Templar's, although with only laserfire, their attempts at hitting the Black Guard were futile for now. Pulling back on her leaver, the cockpit flew open and her chair lifted ferociously from the starfighter and into space. Unclasping herself, she turned and activated a switch on the side of her seat, then kicked off the seat and began floating outwards away from the freighter. However, it seemed that it was gunners controlling the turret and she soon found herself with a strange sensation covering her body. Getting pulled in, she couldn't do anything but stand and watch the small docking port hatch open up on the freighter and her suit carry her into the freighter.
