After removing the Coalition's orbital presence from Humbarine, the invasion fleet swiftly descended into the Commenor system. Split into the same spearhead formation, they moved forwards from the outer planets towards the planet of Commenor.

Admiral Price wasn't the Governor in control of Commenor's defence, but at the sight of the Imperial Fleet, he soon ordered the Governor to stand down his role. Taking command of both the 10th and his own new 11th fleet, he examined what the sensor screens could tell him. "What reinforcements do we have in the area?" He asked one of the Captains who were arranged in front of him like chess pieces, he loved to destroy them each time they made a false move, effectively blanking them from his sight so he wouldn't have to listen to more useless comments. "Nothing Admiral, we are the reinforcements" one pointed out and Price almost destroyed him, but held back after much internal debating. "Well the 4th must remain at Gyndine, it's too easy to take otherwise, but isn't the 3rd fleet there?" he wondered, speaking aloud. "I believe it is Admiral, was due to come in the day after we left Salanda" his Rear-Admiral replied, his favourite of the group in front of him. "That's what i thought, tell the 3rd that I need them and then confirm it with the Admiralty, we don't have time to waste". He continued speaking to his subordinates, but to be honest, his mind was now focused on the force in front of him since he knew what he would be playing with. What moves would they make? How could he deploy both fleets? What route would they take? Was it worth countering them early but leaving the planet lightly defended? How would his reinforcements get here and if they came in the worse position, how could he deploy them effectively? All of these thoughts were going through his mind, but gradually, a plan began to form.

Heading past the 6th planet in the system, the fleet began to split further apart. At the front was the main advancing waves which would swarm the enemy with firepower at their advantage. This was mostly starfighters, gunboats, corvettes, frigates. At the back of those four waves was the small Cruisers, Frigates, Destroyers and some Victory Star Destroyers. The Mark Two of these vessels were further back but in a slightly higher position, giving move starfighter coverage to those in front. Behind these were the majority of the Mark Two Victory Star Destroyers and also the Annihilator's and Executor which were all higher up again, they could provide heavy-fire support for the advancing fleet. The form seemed like a rough interpretation of a Star Destroyer, but on an unimaginable scale. With that, the fleet continued on it's journey, towards the 5th planet from Commenor.

With the Imperial Fleet beginning its approach towards Commenor, the first wave of starfighters met resistance. Battling ensued with Gunships and some Frigates getting involved. Although the first wave took a battering, it pressed through eventually and continued with good speed. It would only be a matter of time before the Coalition brought in it's heavy guns to bear.

The 10th Imperial Task Force was putting up defensive lines to face the brunt of the Imperial Invasion. With the 10th occupied with this, under their Rear Admiral, Admiral Price began to organise his own fleet first. Setting up his forces in a huge column behind the 10th, it would give him time to see how the Imperials would advance and confuse his enemy.

The fleet was using it's Victory Class Star Destroyers along the lines for the main assault, they had hardly anything comparable to the firepower of the Coalition's Star Destroyers and Battle Carriers but they did have Ion Frigates and bombers which could potentially disable large portions of a enemy fleet and leave it decimated and unmechanised. Doing so would hopefully bring a crack in the enemy's lines and allow the fighters and bombers to leak through, disrupting the Coalition's starfighter defences while bringing forwards a steadily increasing number of vessels.
The downside this fleet had was that it had expected much less starfighter resistance, it had a complement of three-hundred and fifty thousand TIE Starfighters of varying classes. This was good, should have been more than enough but with both fleets here, they were barely fifty thousand more than the Coalition and the Imperial Fleet also had to defend it's frigates with these starfighters. That would be the main problem, the starfighters could do their job but not for long, they would need quick and responsive backup straight after they went in.

The Coalition Fleet began to suffer from the attacks by the TIEs, unfortunately, this pinned a lot of the fleet down into one central location while the Ion Frigates could approach and deal their damage. With the first few Star Destroyers getting disabled quickly, it did not look good for the Coalition. Fortunately, Admiral Price brought up his own Destroyers and Bombers to try and deal some salvo's into the Ion Frigates. However, with the TIEs deep into the action, it was taking them a longer time to get through. What they needed was Gunboats for escorts but unfortunately they were in the thick of the action trying to stop some of the TIE Bombers from getting close enough to deliver the final blows to the disabled Star Destroyers.

With the flooding of Imperial Craft amongst Coalition lines, It looked like the attack was going as planned. The Ion Frigates were doing their job perfectly but there was a problem with the TIE fighters. Being mostly unshielded and lighter, they were being picked off by the nimble and agile R-Wings which had the shields fitted. This was causing havoc and hundreds of starfighters were being destroyed every second, more and more towards the Coalition's favour. As such, the TIE Bombers were coming under increased fire and were mostly unable to deliver their targets, instead focusing on the gunboats and destroyers heading their way. Unfortunately, this also meant that the Ion Frigates needed to keep up the fire on the disabled Star Destroyers to prevent them from coming back into the battle, if this continued it would backfire on the Imperial Attack and cause it to fail badly. As such, the Victory Star Destroyers approached with what Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers they could, laying down huge bursts of fire into the Coalition fleet, mainly amongst the disabled vessels. Hopefully this would be enough to force the opening even further and allow the Imperial Navy to decimate the Coalition Fleet and leave it a burning shell.

Admiral Price immediately began to see what the Imperial Navy was trying to do. With his own fleet just a few minutes cruising speed away, he ordered his fleet to engage from the flank. The Imperial Navy hadn't hit the Coalition straight in the middle, in fact, the weakened area was a dozen Star Destroyers to the left. With this in mind, a flanking move to that exact same side would be quicker getting to the Imperial Navy's Ion Frigates and potentially cause havoc for the invasion fleet. It would be a far shorter and more effective strike from the side rather than having to fly over or under the existing Coalition Fleet and be target for the Ion Frigates.

Price's Fleet began intercepting the Imperial Ion Frigates in a surprise move. With TIE Squadrons now getting depleted, there was only one thing to do. With now forty-one Victory Star Destroyers left, they began calling up a retreat. The Coalition had shown that they had intended to defend Commenor and were capable of doing so. The Ion Frigates got swarmed with Gunboat and Destroyer escorts while Cruisers, Frigates and Starfighters kept covering their rear the best they could, delaying the Coalition from keeping up with the fleeing ships. The Victory Star Destroyers began forming into squadron's of three and turning to also flee. It would take a while longer but the majority of these Star Destroyer Squadrons were turning more in the direction of Price's fleet, enabling them to continue holding him back while the fleet retreated.
Commenor was heading towards a costly battle and one the Imperial Navy didn't need so early into the invasion. However, with the continued advances of the main fleets to the north, it would only be a matter of time before the stronghold of Commenor lacked sufficient defences or was left by the retreating Coalition to save it getting surrounded. The Imperial Navy would head back to the nearby system and base themselves at Humbarine, giving them a watch over Commenor and keeping the Coalition defenders pinned for the time being.

Price's warships continued to chase the remaining Imperial Navy leaving the other fleet to mop up further resistance left behind. Price knew the battle was over, but wouldn't let his fleet chase the Imperials too much in case it was a trap to bring them out. Contemplating on the short lived battle here, he saw that Commenor was an important target. The Galactic Empire was likely to try this again, and with that, he knew his presence at Commenor was needed. With two fleets they could defend the planet but without a serious deployment here, a small fleet like the one permanently based wouldn't be able to hold out for long. He would send a report back to the Admiralty about the battle and his own personal opinions. It seemed that invasion had begun, but he wasn't sure if Commenor was a victory or a draw.
