It's advised that you specify your available reinforcements before the battle begins with both sides, so they can both make agreements before the battle begins.
Other than that, try to keep your reinforcements coming in separate, taking into consideration the distance they may have to travel. A fleet from Coruscant could take up to a week or more to reach Mon Calamari, so it would be unwise to put them down as reinforcements.
If you do bring in your reinforcements all at once, make sure you've definitely got the upper-hand because your opponent will no doubt bring in his reinforcements to disable whatever tactic you put in place with yours. Also specify where your reinforcements will appear in relation to the battle, if they are on your flanks, to the rear of the enemy fleet, behind an asteroid belt etc.

My personal suggestions:
When beginning a battle, specify: Initial fleet. IMMEDIATELY available reinforcements. OTHER Reinforcements. These reinforcements could be planetary defences, or fleets posted far away.
Define if you are going to use a hyperspace route. I.e. Corellian Trade Spine. That way, you can transport your ships through much faster. However, if that route is blockaded, you won't be able to use it, or you will have to fight your way through every single blockade.
If you are fighting other battles in nearby places, and you finish them, and want to reinforce your original fleet at X, then make 1 post at the ending battle that the fighting fleet is gone, and make a 2nd post at the reinforcing battle that such a fleet will be arriving. Then, do the same as above.
If your enemy also wants to bring in additional reinforcements after this, whoever announced that a non-specified fleet was incoming will have a slight time advantage, say, 2 posts or smth, depending on the reaction time of your opponent.
Also, arriving fleets that have fought previous battles should be damaged in proportion to the battles before them.
