After what had been recorded as one of the bloodiest seiges in the last decade, Delso walked the battle scarred steets of Taris. A part of him felt bad for the people who called this place home. Stories had perhaps now become legend, yet many knew what the dark lord malak destroyed this planet completely, razing it to the ground. What the mandalorians had done was nothing near as catastrophic, but he could see the hurt on the citizens faces. Things will change he assured himself and they would.
Delso made his way to the top of a landing where a holomike and podium with the Mandalorian flag waited for him. The rich citizens sat in booths while the poor mongered at his feet. The General took his helmet off for the people to see, they deserve to see their new leader. Then he spoke.
" For centuries the people who lived in the lower and undercities of Taris were victims of oppression. Too long have the aristocrats of the upper cities claimed dominion based on "Royal" blood but no longer! Today I stand before you not only as your leader, but as your liberator! No longer will you be bound by class! No longer will you fear for the lives of your children from pirates, rakgouls, or worse. You say you need money. Taris will be wealthier than ever. You say you have no home...no land...Mandalore will provide all."
The crowd actually cheered which surprised Delso, yet the cheer was from the citizens of the lower and undercities of Taris. To them he was a hero. Therefore Delso must respond as a hero would. Should a hero take the racists of the upper city and throw them into the undercity for certain death, or should i be noble? They aided our enemies, they hurt these people.....
Short seconds passed, then delso spoke.
"Everyone will be granted equal citizenship on Taris pending reconstruction, however, the Mandalorians will only be overseeing reconstruction. Those of you who have been oppressed will take up the job markets, you will become employed and employers to give this economy the spark it hasnt had over the years. Others of you will run for office. We want your opinions in government as well....*Pause*..As for those of you who consider yourself above others and who have taken the hope of these people...you will kneel at their feet and you and you alone will be responsible for keeping it on schedule. Anyone who thinks otherwise will be killed on spot. You are a freed people now. Please...enjoy yourselves."
The crowd went up in a roar of cheers as the aristocrats were apprehended and arrested. Chants of "Long live Mandalore" arrose from the crowd. Delso was indeed please and wished Mandalore could see it himself.
